As studios begin to open back up across the world, some yogis may still prefer to practice in the comfort of their own home.
In order to facilitate this, you may want to offer classes live in the studio and online at the same time. In this article, we will show you how that is done within Momoyoga.
Benefits of teaching live and online classes at the same time
When teaching both live and online classes, we recommend you add two separate classes to your schedule. Why?
- Attendance: Likely, with the current measures, your studio capacity is far less than normal. With "separate" classes, you can ensure to stay within the allowable limits and that your studio spots aren't taken by online attendees. Then, for your online classes, you may choose to have unlimited spots available.
- Revenue: Having two separate classes, you could select a different product (class pass or membership) for your live and online classes. Since the studio capacity is likely less during this period, you may choose to raise the prices of the live classes. This will help to cover rent and additional cleaning and personnel costs that you are paying to keep the studio running during this time. You may choose to offer your online classes at a discounted rate since your yogis are practicing at home. If you to choose to keep both classes the same price, that's totally fine too.

Tips for setting up your live and online classes
Check out these tips for a smooth set up:
- Class description: it may be helpful for your yogis to have a small description of what you are trying to accomplish with the live or online classes in each of the class descriptions. Example:
As our studio opens back up, we know that some yogis may still prefer to practice in the comfort of their own home. In order to facilitate this, we are offering live and online classes at the same time, so you can practice wherever you feel most comfortable. - We recommend using the same name for the class, but adding "online" or "live" to the title of the class so your yogis understand it's the same class, simply in a different environment. (See screenshot above.)
- Ensure the Teacher, Date, and Time are the same for both classes.
- Are you using a different product for live classes and online classes? If so, ensure the appropriate products are selected for each class.
- Will your online class have more spots than your live class? If so, ensure you adjust the available spots for each class.
That's it... setting yourself up to teach live and online at the same time is as easy as that!
