How can I accept donations or set up 'pay what you want' classes?

Pay what you want-based classes can be very helpful for special events, online classes, workshops, and can even be an effective way of making your classes even more accessible to those who never tried yoga.

How pay what you want classes work

Pay what you want-based classes can be booked by yogis for free. Right after the class ends, all participating yogis receive an email with a payment link. With this link, they can pay what suits their budget and the class experience best. This payment link redirects them to a contribution page. On this page, the yogi can enter an amount and pay directly online. When the yogi successfully contributes, the yogi and the yoga studio receive a confirmation email with the amount and for which class the contribution was giving for.

Creating a pay what you want class

1. Go to Classes
2. Click Add class
3. Fill out all fields
4. Select the option Yogis can pay what they want for this class
5. Click Add class

The pay what you want class has now been added to your schedule. This class can be booked for free and participating yogis receive a payment link via email, right after class.

Updating an existing class

1. Go to Classes
2. Click on the class title you want to edit
3. Click Edit class
4. Select the option Yogis can pay what they want for this class
5. Click Submit

The class has now been updated.

Editing automated pay what you want emails

Momoyoga sends two automated emails to all participating yogis for pay what you want-based classes. A first email is being sent right after class with a payment link. A second email is for confirming a successful payment. Both automated emails can be edited to your liking! ✨

1. Go the Settings
2. Click on Email
3. Click on Pay what you want email (this email, with a payment link, will be sent right after a class ends) or Pay what you want confirmation email (confirming a successful payment)
4. Edit the message and subject line to your liking
5. Click Submit

A note about PayPal and other payment providers

This pay-what-you-want feature is only available when you’ve installed payment provider Stripe or Mollie with Momoyoga. If you do not have Stripe or Mollie as a payment provider, you will see a blue box when creating or editing  a class: "You have no payment method added yet." This box refers only to pay-what-you-want classes. You can still use PayPal or our payment providers for purchasing class passes or memberships.
